Lindsay and Matt have technically “known” each other for almost three and a half years, however, that all depends on how you define the word “know”…
They met briefly at a mutual client’s Christmas party in 2010, and although they exchanged a quick conversation about a shared love of reggae music, beach bars, and surfing, it would take over a year for the two to actually go out on a date, or even speak again.
You may wonder how they managed to stay in touch or remember each other’s existence over such a long period of time…and the answer lies in our generation’s most useful tool to stalk potential life partners: FACEBOOK ! According to the first time stamped message Matt sent to Lindsay on February 11, 2010 (see below) , he was hoping to plan a time to meet up for a drink.

Fun Fact: Our first 6 months of dating are recorded in a long Facebook thread that we like to look back on and laugh at!
Alas, for whatever reason, the two did not end up grabbing a drink that February. The timing was just not right yet. They both needed about one more year to be ready to go on what would eventually prove to be the most significant first date of their lives!
That first date at a pub in Providence led to lots more dates, during which Matt & Lindsay’s shared interests and outlooks on life became very clear. Both love to travel, and during their 2 years of dating, they were able to take some great trips together: Seattle, NYC, Maine, Boston, Vermont, Bonaire, and the biggest trip of them all….BRAZIL!
The Proposal
December 2012- Matt & Lindsay planned on spending a month traveling around Brazil over the holiday season. The second city they visited was the spectacularly scenic Rio de Janiero. On December 21st, which was forecasted to be the last day of the world according to Mayan calenders, the couple decided that if there was any time to visit the wonder-of-the-world monument Christ Redeemer, this was the day! Up at the top of the mountain, amongst roughly 200 other visitors, Matt got down on one knee and proposed. Of course, Lindsay said yes!
